Taking over our cities through Procession / Victory March (March for Jesus)

A procession or march for Jesus is a propethic act performed by the church to take over a city or even a country. It is actually a very important act to be performed by the church. This is not just merely a parade nor a leisure walk. When performed correctly, it will create a tremendous impact in the spiritual realm.

Sometimes we are not aware that since men fell into sin, the earth has fallen under the power of the evil one. Therefore each and every city was actually under the power and control of the power of darkness. This is the reason why the spiritual atmosphere and condition of each city is very different between one and another. A city can be controlled by the love the money, or anger, or adultery, or poverty and so on.

We - the church - are created with a divine purpose, to have dominion over the earth. We are supposed to be in control (See Genesis 1:26-28). Therefore when we walk the procession, we actually are taking back authority over a city or a nation.

The Scripture explains many foundational truths, why it is very important for the church to walk the procession.

Y To take over our inheritance: a city or country which God gives
Genesis 13:17 says how God commanded Abram to walk through the country according to its length and width, the land which God would give to him.

The same thing God commanded Joshua, after Moses passed away.
Joshua 1:3 (GNB)“As I told Moses, I have given you and all my people the entire land that you will be marching over.”

The Hebrew word used for ‘to tread” is the same which was used when God commanded Abraham to "walk through" the country, which means 'to walk together, to march forth’.  It all depends on us, how much we want to “walk about” the land which God has given to us.

The word “MARCH” actually comes the word “MARK”, therfore when we walk through our land, we are actually marking the land be redeemed to the Kingdom of God.

In Matthew 11:1 the Scripture says how the Lord Jesus himself walked from town to town with His disciples. Even Luke 8:1 says that Jesus WALKED with all twelve disciples from town to town and from village to village. Jesus walked about the promised land that time. He was teaching, preaching the gospel, and under the annointing, rebuking the demons and heal the sick.
Act 10:38 God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Y To strip the power of the enemies
Paul the Apostle wrote in Colossians 2:15 (GNB) And on that cross Christ freed himself from the power of the spiritual rulers and authorities; he made a public spectacle of them by leading them as captives in his victory procession.

The Message described it explicitly :
He (Jesus) He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.

Paul the Apostle traveled mostly by foot, walk about from country to country, and preached the gospel at the places which God has already predestined for him. We also need to remember the Great Commission that the Gospel is to be preached to all the world, then the end will come.

Y To declare victory and to rejoice before the Lord
Therefore when we walk the procession we are actually declaring the victory of Christ and proclaiming taht all the power of the enemies and the darkness have been stripped, and we are declaring the kingdom of God be established upon that city/nation.

Y To proclaim that the Kingdom of God is stablished
In the Old Testament, King David once did the procession carrying the ark of the Lord into Jerusalem. As the ark was carried into Jerusalem, the Kingdom of God was established.
2Samuel 6:14-15 (MSG, NIV) says David, ceremonially dressed in priest's linen, danced before the LORD with all his might, (15) while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

Y To bless and prophecy over the city
As we walk the procession we bless the city, both verbally and also by our deeds.
The destiny, prophecy and words which we proclaim in faith and authority will come to pass. We can also bless the people by giving out candies, chocolates etc to manifest God’s love to the citizens of the city.

Y To take plunder of the wealth of the enemies
As we walk with God on the procession, we bind the enemies and we can take plunder of the wealth of the enemies.
Isa 45:14 (GNB)  The LORD says to Israel, "The wealth of Egypt and Ethiopia will be yours, and the tall men of Seba will be your slaves; they will follow you in chains. They will bow down to you and confess, 'God is with you---he alone is God.

Y It gives us legal right to act according to the will of God
As we take over the land, we are entitled to to preach the gospel, start businesses, schools etc.

What are actually taking places in the spiritual realm, when the sons of God walk the procession properly? Lets take a look at what King David says in a powerful passage of Psalm 68.

Psalm 68:1 NASB  Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, And let those who hate Him flee before Him.
When we walk the procession, his Kingdom is established, all the powers of darkness are expelled and rebuked.

Psa 68:3 NKJV  But let the righteous be glad;           Let them rejoice before God;
             Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly.
It describes the peak of joy, excitement, spirit of victory and joy. Upon this procession we are not to be silent, instead we are to confess declarations powerfully, wave banners, sound the trumpets, dance and shout outloud.

Y To Prepare the Way for the King of kings
Psa 68:4 GNB  Sing to God, sing praises to his name; prepare a way for him who rides on the clouds....
When we lift up our Psalms, Praises and Worship, we are actually preparing the way for the Lord. When we walk the procession, our worship, praises are actually preparing the way for His Second Coming.

In Isaiah 45:13, the Message describes how God rolled out the red carpet for Cyrus. It's now our time, by His grace and the power of His Spirit, to roll out the red carpet for the Second coming of the Lord Jesus as King.

Y To wage war against the enemis
Psalm 68:8, "O God , when You went out before Your people , when you step [ AMP ; marched ] in the wilderness , Sela " .
God went out before His people, when we walk the procession. It is written that the earth trembles and rain pours down, restoring land and pouring out the goodness of God and the needs of the oppressed.  [verses 9-11] .

Psa 68:11 NLT  The Lord gives the word, and a great army brings the good news.
We need to proclaim the truth, the good news. We are God's great army. More are with us than those with our enemies. As His army, we are armed with the sword of the Spirit and powerful spiritual weapons. The procession is actually a spiritual battle.

Psa 68:24 GNB  O God, your march of triumph is seen by all, the procession of God, my king, into his sanctuary.
When people look at the procession, they're actually looking a procession of God. It’s actually a visible procession of the King of kings.

Y To demonstrate of the power of God
Psa 68:28 NASB  Your God has commanded your strength; Show Yourself strong, O God, who have acted on our behalf.
It is actually God acting for us. This is actually what a procession is!  God acting on our behalf. God mobilizes and demonstrates His power.

Y How do we prepare the procession?

We can never conquest without preparation. Without need to prepare ourselves adequately and properly to cause powerful impact.

ÿ Spying and Binding
Therefore everytime we are about a conquer an area, we need to divide areas, assign person in charge of each area and perform spiritual mapping. Then we need to begin binding the spirits to weaken all the power of the enemies. Just like Joshua who sent spies, each and every one of us should send spies and understand how to bind all the spirits. This is the duty of the spies.

Mark 3:27 (NASB) "But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.

ÿ Building walls of protection
As days get closer to the time of warfare, every one should build walls of protection around themselves through confession and declaration. Whatever we declare in faith, authority and accuraty will come to pass. Learn to obey whatever the Spirit says to us, because we don’t know musuh apa yang sedang kita hadapi. We may be directed to fast, take holy communion, confess Psalm 91, read the Bible etc.

Build layered walls of protection, to obtain a thorough victory. There are at least 3 layers of protection.
1. Wall of praise: we can praise God while we walk around our houses.
2. Wall of fire. We can wave banner while we speak in tongue, or symbols of fire, or we can even carry real fire when we walk around
3. Wall of confession. Our faith has to be spoken and declared outloud.

ÿ Annointing
The Bible tells us many stories of servants of God being annointed. Even Christ means the annointed one. Therefore each and everyone of is to annoint ourselves, and afterwards the soles of our shoes with seven elements. Those are are: water, oil, salt, flour, wine, milk, honey mixed together. The seven elements signify seven covenants which we establish and proclaim around the city that we walk the procession on.

Water: purification, Living Water, cool spirit.
Oil: Protection, Seal
Salt: Godly influence, covenant of salt
Flour: abundance, life
Wine: Blood of Jesus
Milk: Purity, growth, abundance, fulfillment of the promises of God
Honey: Sweetness, abundance, fulfillment of the promises of God

Taking our plunders
Sometimes people take things for granted, going for warfare without proper preparation. At each important place, there are evil spirits which we need to bind and plunders which we are to take, which were previously stolen by the evil powers. At each important place we can ask and confess accurate verses according to what the Spirit inspires.
Eg In Cana, a miracle took place when Jesus turned the water into wine. There are blessings of restoration of families, annointing, the best wine. On the other hand, there were people who lacked planning and ran out of wine. Therefore we need to bind the evil spirits first before we can take plunder of of the divine legacy/inheritance.

What do we do during the procession?
2Samuel 6:14-15 says that there are at least three (3) things that we can do: dance, proclaim/shout, praise and worship.

♫ Dance
When we walk the procession, we need to mobilize the dancers from the city (it may be a combination of churches, fellowships, schools, orphanages, etc. ). We need to prepare them about the prophetic dance to turn the situation around, its much better if we have costumes and dancing properties at hand.

We can also carry and wave banners as symbols of the reign of the Kingdom of God. By doing everything by faith and proper understanding, we can cause greater impact.

♫ Proclaim
With regards to the proclamation, we need to do our homework to identify the demonic / negative spirit which used to influence our cities. We can then accurately declare the turnaround of the circumstances. These are like the stones which David threw to kill the Goliath.

♫ Blow the trumpet
When the trumpet is blown, its actually a sign to attack and conquer the enemies. We can practically use any things to produce sounds. We can use household appliances such as gallons, bottles (filled with grains), cans, buckets, pots, whistles, bamboos etc as percussion instruments. When we produce the sounds, we destroy the strategy of the enemies. We drive them away.

In particular cities, we can carry torches at the procession to light up the holy fire, or a prophetic act of burning away all uncleanness.

In terms of the participants, we can invite groups of children to participate in the procession. We can also invite representatives from various professional groups such as physicians, soldiers, sportsmen, security guards, nurses, civil servants, teachers etc. This is to declare and prophecy that the revival will take place at all age groups and professional groups.

We can also carry banners written with prophetic words for the city (eg: New York City is SAVED, Berlin is PEACEFUL, Nairobi is SAFE, Sydney is PROSPEROUS etc ) .

Y What can the church do after the procession ?
2Sam 6:18-19 GNB  When he had finished offering the sacrifices, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD Almighty  (19)  and distributed food to them all. He gave each man and woman in Israel a loaf of bread, a piece of roasted meat, and some raisins. Then everyone went home.
The church has a responsibility to feed the city. We have just cleaned up the atmosphere of the city. Let not what the Lord warned in Mat 12:43.happens. Fill our city with good things. The body of Christ has to become answers, become the father of the city!

Mat 12:43-45 GNB  "When an evil spirit goes out of a person, it travels over dry country looking for a place to rest. If it can't find one,  (44)  it says to itself, 'I will go back to my house.' So it goes back and finds the house empty, clean, and all fixed up.  (45)  Then it goes out and brings along seven other spirits even worse than itself, and they come and live there. So when it is all over, that person is in worse shape than at the beginning. This is what will happen to the evil people of this day."

The church has to understand that cleaning up the atmosphere of a city is not just a one time act. Its a continuous journey, week after week, month after month. This can be performed by events such as: low priced market, free medical services, free meals and so on.

We also have a responsibilty to stand for our city. Therefore we are responsible to build armies in each and every city.

Eze 22:30 GNB  I looked for someone who could build a wall, who could stand in the places where the walls have crumbled and defend the land when my anger is about to destroy it, but I could find no one.

Technical preparation

1.        Waking troop of dancers & percussionis.  Participants can be gathered from local churches, fellowship, schools, foundations, orphanages etc. Prepare costumes, dance properties, percussions ( gallons, buckets, bottles filled with grains, drums, cymbals, bamboo sticks etc.). We can invite marching bands if there are available. If possible, prepare a car(s) with sound system (speakers or portable loudspeakers, with at least 1 (one) MP3 player to play the praise and worship songs.

2.        Determine the route of the procession. The more important the place we walk around, the greater impact of the procession. Choose wide roads to minimize disturbance to the traffic. Consult local police officers if necessary. Make sure all necessary permissions from the police etc are obtained.
At public squares we might not need to obtain any permits.

3.        Upon preparation there are times that we dont need to publicly announce that this is a march for Jesus to the crowd. Sometimes it can be a wise idea to wrap the march in commemoration with other events/social activities, such as the Independence day, National Holidays, Marching competitions, low priced markets etc. The procession can be publicly declared is a part of the opening ceremony.

4.        We need to prepare beverages for participants.

5.        In term of number of participants, we target at least 1,000 participants. The more the better.
